The University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) through the Faculty of Management and Development Studies (FMDS), in cooperation with the UP Open University Foundation, Inc. (UPOUFI) and the International Wood Culture Society (IWCS) will be holding the 2nd Wood Design and Carving Competition and the 1st Wood Culture Forum on 24 February 2014 at the Centennial Center for Digital Learning (CCDL) Auditorium, UPOU, Los Baños, Laguna, Philippines. These events are part of UPOU’s 19th Anniversary Celebration and UPOU’s preparation for the World Wood Day on 21 March 2014. With the theme “Wood ConnEctions: Wood in a Changing Culture”, these events will highlight the crucial role of wood in ensuring a sustainable future.
Everyone is invited to submit entries to this wood design and carving competitiom. The contest is open to anybody.
There are three categories for the competition: wood collapsible house design, wood furniture and wood carving.
Contestants must submit their 3D models and design plans for the collapsible house, actual furniture entries, or woodcarvings to FMDS, UPOU on 20 February 2014.
Cash prizes await the winner – P30,000 for the first prize; P 20,000 for the second prize; and P10,000 for the third prize.
