Course Description: Introduction to the property development process, land use regulation, building construction, sustainability considerations in construction, green buildings and building valuation
Course Objectives:
By the end of the course, the student should be able to:
● Discuss the property development process, including factors that will influence its success or failure;
● Explain concepts of land use planning and discuss their impacts on the real estate market;
● Explain the arrangements and modes for construction;
● Discuss the types of building construction and the elements of buildings that influence their value;
● Discuss the implications of the building code on property development and building construction;
● Discuss the environmental impacts of construction and how these may be mitigated; and
● Value buildings using the Cost Approach.
