Course Description: Factors shaping ethnic and racial identities as informed and mediated by political, social, and cultural conditions and interactions in the ASEAN countries, effect of respective diasporic origins/roots and contacts on transnational communities in the ASEAN countries.
Course Objectives:
At the end of the course, the student should be able to:
1. Compare diaspora/transnational groups in the ASEAN region;
2. Analyze the factors shaping diasporic conditions in the sites of emigration; and
3. Assess the impacts of diasporic/transnational communities in the new “homelands”
