Course Description: Geography, characteristics, structure, function, resources and biodiversity of major natural habitats of the ASEAN region including unique bio-cultural landscapes and seascapes, its conservation and sustainable use of its resources.
Course Objectives:
At the end of the course, the student should be able to:
1. Describe the geography, characteristics, resources and biodiversity of major natural habitats of the ASEAN region including unique bio-cultural landscapes and seascapes;
2. Examine the structure, function, relationships and interactions of ecosystems and its environment;
3. Explain resource overexploitation, habitat and species loss and how it can be mitigated; and
4. Evaluate conservation strategies and sustainable use of resources and ecosystems; and
5. Recommend sustainable resource management.
