Associate of Arts in Digital Entrepreneurship

Program Description

The Associate of Arts in Digital Entrepreneurship (AADE) is designed to prepare students for baccalaureate studies but at the same time equip them to become digital entrepreneurs or prepare them for employment or careers in a broad range of professions in enterprises, corporations, public and non-government organizations through specialization courses. 

The AADE follows Republic Act No. 10647 otherwise known as the Ladderized Education Act of 2014, which aims to strengthen the transition between Technical-Vocational Education and Training and Higher Education. It is in sync with Republic Act No. 10968 or an act institutionalizing the Philippine Qualifications Framework (PQF).

Program Goals

The AADE program aims to develop graduates who are able to:

  • Demonstrate creativity, innovation and uprightness in discovering, managing, scaling, and transforming business ideas, assets, products,  services and key components into digital ;
  • Demonstrate entrepreneurial attitudes which integrate business ethics, cultural sensitivity, ecological principles, and social responsibility in the digitally adept enterprise; and 
  • Operate and adapt in a digitally networked and rapidly changing business environment. 

Admission

The following can apply for admission to a specialization in AADE:

  1. High School or Senior High School graduates who have never enrolled in college; admission is through Undergraduate Admission Test (UgAT);
  2. Passers of the Department of Education’s (DepEd) Alternative Learning System Accreditation and Equivalency (ALS A&E) Test for secondary level; admission is through UgAT;
  3. Passers of UP College Admission Test (UPCAT) with a minimum score of 2.80
  4. Transferees (with college units); and
  5. Graduates of other undergraduate degrees.

To be admitted to the program through UgAT, the applicant must:

  1. Have submitted the complete documentary requirements for admission before the application deadline;
  2. Have taken and passed the Undergraduate Admission Test (UgAT). Details about the exam will be emailed by admissions;
  3. Have completed the UPOU Distance Education Readiness Module (DERM). (Link to the DERM will be emailed by admissions); and
  4. Have submitted an admission essay (500-word essay indicating your purpose for applying to the distance education programs and your plans after completion of the associate program at the UP Open University).

Program of Study

The AADE program consists of 72 units of course work distributed as follows:

  • GE Courses: 30 units (21 units of Required GE courses and 9 units of Elective GE courses).
  • Government-mandated courses: 3 units;  along with PE and NSTP.
  • Common courses: 12 units  of courses common across and specific to undergraduate programs at UPOU.
  • Concentration courses: 27 units

Program Policies

Associate programs are designed to be completed in 2 years for full-time students. However, a maximum residency rule (MRR) of 7 years will be adopted from the Associate in Arts program of UPOU.
