The project team for the DOST-funded project entitled “Participatory Approach in Assessing and Promoting Women-led Permaculture among Selected Permaculture Sites in the AANR Sectors” of the University of the Philippines Open University Faculty of Management and Development Studies (UPOU FMDS) participated in this year’s Philippine Permaculture Convergence held on 27–30 November 2025. The project is currently led by Assoc. Prof. Finaflor F. Taylan.
Representing the project were Dr. Jabez Joshua Flores, UPOU Senior Lecturer, Maryjane Reondanga, FMDS Perma G.A.R.D.E.N. caretaker, Tiffany Catbagan, and Raizza Anna Alforja, Project Staff. Their attendance formed part of the project’s continuing efforts to deepen its understanding of permaculture practices nationwide.

During the convergence, the team engaged with various permaculture practitioners and learned from the diverse approaches being implemented across the country. These interactions helped strengthen the project’s network with individuals and organizations advocating for sustainable and regenerative systems. The insights gained from the event will directly support the project’s ongoing activities, particularly in advancing women-led permaculture initiatives and enhancing participatory approaches within the Agriculture, Aquatic, and Natural Resources (AANR) sectors.
This project aims to contribute to the fulfillment of:
- SDG 4: Quality Education
- SDG 5: Gender Equality
- SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities
- SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities
- SDG 13: Climate Action
- SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals
