The University of the Philippines Open University’s Faculty of Management and Development Studies (UPOU-FMDS), in collaboration with the Laguna Public Employment Services Office (PESO Laguna), conducted a courtesy visit to the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Cavinti, Laguna, on 7 March 2024 . The visit was part of the ongoing efforts to implement the “Barangay Digital Transformation” project in the area. 

The team composed of Dr. Joane V. Serrano, UPOU-FMDS Dean; Ms. Mary Jane T. Banasihan-Corcuera, Manager of PESO Laguna;, Mr. Rodson Del Mundo, PESO Laguna Staff; Ms. Dona Lyn Piamonte and Ms. Janelle Ebron, UPOU-FMDS Staff,  was warmly welcomed by Hon. Arrantlee Romulo Arroyo, Cavinti Municipal Mayor, and Ms. Vina Lorraine Orolfo, Cavinti Municipal Administrator to discuss the project,  its objectives and its implementation plans. 

Cavinti LGU expressed its full support for the Barangay Digital Transformation project and committed to work closely with UPOU-FMDS and PESO Laguna to ensure its success. With the support of the Cavinti LGU and the active involvement of barangay officials, the Barangay Digital Transformation project is expected to have a positive impact on the residents of Cavinti and serve as a model for digital transformation in other barangays.
