In celebration of the 2025 National Women’s Month, the Civil Service Commission (CSC) held a Gender, Disability, and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) Orientation where the Faculty of Management and Development Studies (FMDS) Dean, Assoc. Prof. Finaflor F. Taylan, DProfSt., served as a speaker.

Held last 12 March 2025 at the CSC Auditorium (CSC Central Office), the Orientation was held to equip Gender and Development (GAD) Focal Point System and GAD Focal Persons of CSC with the comprehensive knowledge on foundational GEDSI concepts, definitions, as well as national and international policies and legal frameworks.

Moreover, the event organized by the CSC aims to highlight effective approaches and tools for mainstreaming GEDSI into CSC operations, covering key aspects from planning, budgeting, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation.

Dean Taylan, a staunch GEDSI advocate and former UP Open University (UPOU) Office of Gender Concerns (OGC) Director, contributed to the discussion by focusing on GEDSI fundamentals, key issues, the mainstreaming framework and tools, and action planning.

This activity is part of the ongoing collaboration between UPOU and CSC which is in support of the following SDGs: SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 5 (Gender Equality) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
