The Faculty of Management and Development Studies (FMDS) of the University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) conducted the Let’s Talk it Over webinar on “Creative Entrepreneurship in the Digital Space” last 20 March 2025.
This event was part of FMDS’ initiative towards community inclusivity, digital transformation, and sustainability and aligns with various Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including Decent Work and Economic Growth (SDG 8), Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure (SDG 9), and Partnerships for the Goals (SDG 17).
The webinar aimed to raise awareness about the opportunities in creative entrepreneurship and to identify and explore different fields where creative entrepreneurship can thrive, while also highlighting the important role that digital tools and platforms play in supporting and enhancing these creative ventures.

Assoc. Prof. Finaflor F. Taylan, Dean of FMDS, kicked off the program with a warm welcome, highlighting the significance of leveraging digital technologies to facilitate meaningful discussions and exchanges on this timely topic. She also underscored the need to provide more opportunities for Filipino creatives to showcase their talents and creativity.

Mr. Gian Carlo de Jesus, the Chief Playmaker of Balaiwari Immersive and Gaming Experiences, Inc. (BINGE XP), served as the resource speaker for the event. In his very comprehensive and insightful presentation, he discussed how technology is reshaping modern business opportunities. He also emphasized that this is a crucial time for digital creatives, both globally and in the Philippines, as the growth of collaborative systems, policies, and digital technologies creates new pathways for entrepreneurial success in this ever-changing world. Mr. de Jesus also shared emerging trends in immersive and gaming experiences as well as provided strategies for navigating the digital marketplace. In addition, he also identified key technologies such as data analytics, AI, digital marketing, and e-commerce platforms as crucial tools for digital entrepreneurs.
Following the presentation, an open forum was held where participants raised engaging and thought-provoking questions. The discussion covered a wide range of topics, including the impact of new policies, strategies for digital marketing, and the challenges faced by startups. Attendees were eager to explore how digital technologies and emerging trends can be leveraged for growth. In this part, Mr. de Jesus provided valuable insights and advice, enriching the conversation and offering practical guidance for digital entrepreneurs and creatives.

To close the program, Asst. Prof. Tricia C. Ascan, Program Chair of the Associate of Arts in Digital Entrepreneurship (AADE) at FMDS, expressed her gratitude to the speaker, attendees, and the organizers for their contributions in this event. She also emphasized how inspiring it is to explore how creativity, innovation, and digital tools come together to open endless opportunities for creative entrepreneurs in an ever-evolving digital landscape.
This successful event highlights FMDS’ ongoing commitment to equipping students and professionals with the knowledge and skills needed to thrive in the digital entrepreneurship field, fostering a community of creative thinkers ready to address future challenges.
