The Faculty of Management and Development Studies (FMDS) is holding a forum on “Digital Security Threats and Digital Ageism” on 20 June 2024, from 9 AM to 12 PM. This is being organized in connection with the National ICT Month with the theme “Bayang Digital ang Bagong Pilipinas” to align with the national effort to promote the significance of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) in all aspects of society. This event aims to highlight critical issues surrounding digital security threats and the challenges faced by the elderly in adapting to the digital age. By fostering awareness and encouraging an intergenerational approach, the forum seeks to bridge the digital divide, empower vulnerable populations, and contribute to a digitally inclusive society, which is a key objective of National ICT Month.
The forum will feature talks by two speakers that will give way to discuss how the youth can actively participate in assisting the elderly with technology, emphasizing the importance of an inclusive digital environment. An open forum will also be held as an opportunity for participants to engage in meaningful discussions with the speakers.
This event is part of UPOU’s commitment to community service, public service, and the promotion of digital transformation. It aligns with various Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including Quality Education (SDG 4), Gender Equality (SDG 5), and Partnerships for the Goals (SDG 17).
