Dr. Consuelo dL. Habito, a faculty member of the University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) Faculty of Management and Development Studies (FMDS), won 1st place in the Scientific Poster Competition at the 2025 Department of Science and Technology (DOST) National Research Council of the Philippines (NRCP) Annual Scientific Conference and 92nd General Membership Assembly. The event was held on 12 March 2024 at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines.

Dr. Habito’s award-winning paper, titled “Indigenous Cultures and their Influences on Woodcarving in Contemporary Philippines,” was co-authored by Kyla Agnes Ramirez, Ms. Noisa Abdulazis-Asalan, Regina Guimpatan-Gano, and FMDS Affiliate Faculty Dr. Joefe Santarita. The study explores the rich heritage of indigenous woodcarving practices in the Philippines and their impact on contemporary art and culture.
