FMDS new and continuing students at the Student Orientation

The Faculty of Management and Development Studies (FMDS) conducted its Student Orientation for the Second Semester of Academic Year 2025–2026 on 06 February 2026, from 2:30 to 5:00 PM, via Zoom. A total of 260 students participated in the event which aimed to help them become more familiar with FMDS, introduce key academic and administrative officials, highlight the FMDS Student Support Site, and ensure that students are well-informed about the academic policies relevant to their respective programs.

The program formally opened with the National Anthem, followed by a message from the FMDS Dean, Dr. Finaflor F. Taylan, who welcomed the students and stressed the Faculty’s dedication to student-centered learning and holistic support. This was followed by a series of audio-visual presentations (AVPs), including an Introduction to FMDS and its Officials, Program Chairs, Faculty Members, and Staff. Participants were also oriented on essential reminders through the “Things to Remember by FMDS Students” video and were introduced to the FMDS Student Support Site, a centralized platform designed to assist students with academic, administrative, and student-life concerns. Interactive icebreakers were strategically incorporated after each AVP to encourage student engagement and reinforce key takeaways.

The second part of the program focused on Program Orientation, conducted through breakout sessions per academic program. Each session featured a message from the Program Chair, a Program Orientation Video, messages from the Faculty-in-Charge (FICs), and an Open Forum, providing students with the opportunity to raise questions and clarify program-specific concerns. The sessions concluded with the singing of UP Naming Mahal.

Anchored on Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4) – Quality Education, FMDS emphasized its mission to deliver inclusive, accessible, and equitable education, equipping students with the knowledge, resources, and support necessary for academic success.
