The Faculty of Management and Development Studies (FMDS) of the University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) and Concentrix Philippines further strengthened their partnership through a Turnover Ceremony and Ceremonial Signing of the Deed of Donation, marking another milestone in their shared commitment to digital transformation.
Held on 27 January 2026, the ceremony highlighted Concentrix Philippines’ donation of 50 computer units to UPOU, an initiative aimed at expanding access to digital resources and learning opportunities for marginalized communities. The donation forms part of the ongoing efforts to support the Barangay Digital Transformation Hub, a program designed to empower local communities through technology, skills training, and improved digital access.
Chancellor Joane Serrano and Dean Finaflor Taylan were present at the event, along with Mr. Prin Albert Velasco and Ms. Retchel Florendo of Concentrix Philippines. The event also highlighted the importance of cross-sector partnerships in the digital divide, particularly in underserved areas. By bringing together academic expertise and private sector support, the partnership seeks to create sustainable and inclusive digital solutions at the grassroots level.
With this latest development, the Barangay Digital Transformation Hub is set to expand to select communities and individuals, bringing essential digital tools and opportunities closer to communities that need them most.
As UPOU and Concentrix Philippines continue to work hand in hand, this collaboration underscores a shared vision of leveraging technology to foster inclusive growth, lifelong learning, and community development. It also supports various Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), and SDG 17 (Partnership for the Goals).
