Last 17 June 2025, the University of the Philippines (UP) hosted a dinner reception titled “Pagkilala sa mga Natatanging Alumni na Nagkamit ng Pinakamatataas na Marka sa Licensure Exam” at the GT-Toyota Auditorium, UP Diliman, as part of its 117th Founding Anniversary celebration. The event, organized by UP President Angelo Jimenez, was one of the highlights of Linggo ng Unibersidad, a week-long tribute to the achievements of individuals and institutions within the UP community.

The ceremony honored 254 UP alumni who were topnotchers in the 2024 Licensure and bar examinations. Among them were graduates from the Faculty of Management and Development Studies (FMDS) of UP Open University (UPOU), who brought pride to their unit and the entire UP system.

John Andrew Cruz ranked 2nd in the Environmental Planners Licensure Examination (EPLE), while Zeilanni Dale Almadrones Galicia and Mary Ann Mocorro Marcellones placed 7th and 8th, respectively. Assistant Professor Remsce A. Pasahol received the awards on behalf of Galicia and Marcellones.

Tiffany Leanne C. Catbagan, a Project Technical Assistant I at the UPOU FMDS, was also recognized for placing 3rd in the 2024 Licensure Examination for Agriculturists (LEA).

FMDS faculty members also attended the ceremony, including Associate Professor Myra D. Oruga, representing the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs; Assistant Professor Remsce A. Pasahol, representing the Office of the Chancellor; and Assistant Professor Rita C. Ramos. Their presence highlighted the crucial role of mentorship in fostering student success.

This event affirmed UP’s commitment to academic excellence and public service. The awardees exemplify the UP spirit – Iskolar ng Bayan, Para sa Bayan – proving that quality education and strong values can lead to national impact and professional distinction.
