The University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) proudly celebrates a milestone achievement as two of its graduates successfully passed the 2025 Licensure Examination for Social Workers (LESW).

This marks the first time that UPOU has produced takers for the professional board examination for social workers and both of them emerged successful. The new social workers: Mabeth E. Duce and Marco Bello C. Hernal are graduates of the University’s ladderized Diploma to Master of Social Work (MSW) program, which equips students with advanced knowledge and skills in the field of social work while also providing flexible learning pathways. Both graduates are working professionals and managing programs that contribute to the positive changes in their communities as they engage with the marginalized groups.

UPOU extends its heartfelt congratulations to its pioneering LESW takers who are MSW graduates for their outstanding accomplishment. Their success not only demonstrates their hard work and perseverance but also reflects the quality of education and training offered by UPOU in the field of social work.

This milestone underscores UPOU’s commitment to providing accessible, high-quality education that facilitates the empowerment of learners to serve  the underserved communities and address pressing social challenges.
