Dr. Joane V. Serano, Dean of the Faculty of Management and Development Studies (FMDS) of the UP Open University (UPOU) officially welcomed in person the new FMDS faculty members to the strong teaching and instruction workforce of the programs Master of Public Management (MPM), Diploma in Women and Development (DWD), Diploma in/ Master of Research and Development Management (D/MR&DM) and Diploma in/ Master of Social Work D/MSW) on 6 October 2022.
The new regular faculty members are as follows: Asst. Prof. Lianne Angelico C. Depante (MPM) who is a Public Administration graduate from UP Diliman and Master in Asia-Pacific Studies holder from the National Chengchi University; Asst. Prof. Maria Lourdes T. Jarabe (DWD) who is a Master of Social Work alumnae from UP Diliman and PhD in Family Studies from Miriam College; Asst. Prof. Leo Mendel D. Rosario (D/MR&DM) has a solid Physics background from Bachelor, Master and PhD from UP Diliman and is also a UPOU DR&DM graduate; and Asst. Prof. Lloyd Lyndel P. Simporios (D/MSW) who is an experienced Social Welfare Officer from Region VII with BS in Social Work from Mindanao State University and Master of Social Work from UPOU. Dean Serrano discussed the academic and administrative procedures, shared her experiences as a faculty and gave some tips to the recently hired faculty members.
The four new regular faculty members from FMDS, together with Faculty of Education (FED) and Faculty of Information and Communication Studies (FICS) new faculty members, attended the New Faculty Orientation organized by the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs (OVCAA) in the morning which was held in UPOU headquarters, Los Baños, Laguna. The morning session was spearheaded by UPOU Chancellor Dr. Melinda dP. Bandalaria, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Dr. Primo G. Garcia, and Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration Dr. Jean A. Saludadez. The deans from the three faculty offices, Dr. Ricardo Bagarinao (FED), through OIC Asst. Professor Sally Gutierez, Dean Dr. Diego Maranan (FICS), and Dean Dr. Joane Serrano (FMDS), also bestowed their warm messages.
The orientation programs also tackled the Faculty Dashboard and UPOU Workspace, OVCAA Website and HR matters through the facilitation of OASIS Director Ana Katrina Marcial, A2VCAA for Instruction and Special Projects Dr. Myra Almodiel, and HRDO Chief Mr. Michael Lagaya, respectively. The new faculty members s also get to familiarize with the university via a Campus Tour.
