FMDS UPOU to hold Let’s Talk it Over on Exploring the Identity of Women and the Anatomy of Violence in partnership with UPOU Office of Gender Concerns and the Asian Association of Women’s Studies

In partnership with the Asian Association of Women’s Studies (AAWS) and the UPOU Office of Gender Concerns (OGC) in accordance with the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women (VAW), FMDS will be holding a Let’s Talk it Over on Exploring the Identity of Women and the Anatomy of Violence this coming 11 December 2023 at the UPOU Audiovisual Room from 9 am to 12 noon.

The goal of this event is to provide a platform to unpack this complex topic of “who is the woman”  and the various forms of violence she faces across time and space. This session will also include stories and narratives of trans women, highlighting their unique experiences as women. Moreover, this LTiO aims to deepen our understanding of what it means to be a woman by exploring different perspectives and definitions and further examine how different identities intersect with gender and contribute to experiences of violence.

Esteemed speakers who will join us for this LTiO are:

  • Dr. Carolyn I. Sobritchea, UPOU Professorial Lecturer
  • Asst. Prof. Roda L. Tajon, Regular Faculty, UPOU Faculty of Information and Communication Studies
  • Hon.  Arlene D. Brosas, Member, Philippine House of Representatives and  Gabriela Women’s Party-list
