The Faculty of Management and Development Studies (FMDS) thru its Secretary to the Faculty conducted the Online Student Orientation via Facebook Live for First Semester AY 2017-2018 on 29 July 2017.

Hosted by Asst. Prof. Rita C. Ramos, the FMDS Secretary to the Faculty and Ms. Jeniffer F. De Pasion-Guevarra, the FMDS Student Records Support Staff, and assisted by the FMDS Research Assistants, the online student orientation via Facebook Live is a venue for new and continuing students to raise inquiries and clarify information which are not included in the materials posted at the UPOU Student Orientation Course Site they visited prior to the FB Live.

This semester’s FB Live was divided into two parts: the General Forum for Academic and Administrative Policies and Processes and the Program Orientation. Prof. Jean A. Saludadez, ASEAN Studies Program Chair also joined the FB Live to answer all the queries of the students of ASEAN Studies during the program orientation. Other Program Chairs, some Faculty-In-Charge and Learning Center Coordinators joined the #FMDSLive to answer questions raised by the students.

Garnering over 5400 views with 651 comments, the Student Orientation is a good venue for students who are based in different parts of the globe for posting queries which are answered quickly and real time. Students who attended the Student Orientation also commented thru hashtags that the Student Orientation via FB Live is #StudentCentered and #HeavenSent making them feel welcome and less worried in the world of distance learning.

FMDS makes use of the advantages of Social Media such as Facebook Live in its mission to serve the global community of learners, reaching out to more students around the globe.
